Cellulite affects over 90% of women, even in those who are thin or work hard to stay fit. It is not a fat problem, it is a skin problem, and there are several factors that contribute to its formation and appearance.
Unfortunately, women are much more susceptible to cellulite formation than men due to the underlying structure of the skin and hormonal influences from excess estrogen. Male skin tends to be thicker and the connective tissue under the skin is structured in a criss-cross pattern that is more supportive. Females have thinner skin and the connective tissue is arranged in a vertical pattern that creates cube like compartments for the fat cells. When the connective tissue becomes damaged it creates fibrous bands that pull the surface of the skin down while the fat cells are being squeezed into small bulges that give the overlying skin the “puckered” or “dimpled” appearance that we call cellulite.
Damage to the connective tissue that causes the formation of fibrous bands is caused by poor circulation to the skin, toxin accumulation, water retention, lack of oxygen, hormone imbalance, and inflammation. In order to treat cellulite effectively, ALL of these causes must be addressed.
Medical spas or devices that claim to treat cellulite with one modality such as a laser or radiofrequency device are misleading. Although those devices will temporarily improve the appearance of cellulite, it will return if the underlying causes associated with the condition are not also treated.
At VitaNovu we provide a comprehensive approach to the treatment of cellulite. Using multiple techniques and health evaluations we can decrease the size of the fat cells below the skin, improve circulation and oxygenation to the area, and reduce toxins. We also provide comprehensive hormone evaluations and make recommendations to reduce overall inflammation within the body.*
